So this past weekend I road-tripped down to Virginia (and I'm going to try to put pics up tomorrow). I stopped in Fredericksburg to visit one of my dear friends (and Geneva college roomie) Tiana before heading down to VA Beach to visit my long-time best friend April. Seth had to work and was not able to come with me this time. When he called me when I was half-way down, he said, "Are you listening to your praise music, baby?" Because that is usually what I do, and he knows me well. My car is not nicknamed by the studio kids "The Praize-yes, with a z- Mobile" for nothing. This time, however, I decided that I was going to pull out the entire CD set of "A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place" (taught by Beth Moore) that I have and listen to the entire thing.
I needed to take time to be fed on the journey, so sometimes I listened to the CDs and other times the Lord and I had some conversations. Sometimes I turned off the noise and just listened and looked at the scenery as I drove. I needed a rest, a reprieve, and apparently God knew I needed a fresh word from Him (I love how He works like that). Because He gave it to me. I can't share all of it with you at this time, but I soon will. For now, it is marked down in my journal. No, I did not write while I was driving...but later! (grin)
And then I realized how often God uses the time that I am traveling alone to speak to me. Whether it is by giving me words through road signs ("Caution: Expect Delays") or using other folks to give insight along the way, or even by stopping the middle of a movie on a plane trip back from Israel to tell me "Now is the time to open your dance studio!", He tends to use my travel time to give me a fresh word. I'm pretty sure it's because I am confined to a seat and not able to move for hours, and He has my full attention.
This time, one of His messages was clear: DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO SPEAK UNBELIEF TO YOU. I so needed to hear that. Praise Him.
How about you? Is there a specific place where God most speaks to you?

Oh my goodness! You were down in my neck of the woods. Glad you stayed safe in all of the lovely ice we had down here this weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteI love to have my quiet times in the morning, or while driving. He is so good to give us little reminders from time to time!
