The movie character that I am most compared to is Amy Adams' character Giselle in "Enchanted." I sing and dance and have a general optimistic outlook on life and people. Life is much more fun that way. Yesterday I delivered a piece of mail to a coworker with a song and she said, "Life is not a musical, Kirsten." (grin)
I am a huge fan of Disney movies. I can quote most every line and sing every song. Since they are rereleasing them into the theater in 3D, I was excited to see "Beauty and the Beast" come out because that is my all-time favorite one for many reasons (I have always loved the story from the classic before it was a Disney, Belle gets to wear a beautiful dress, and the Beast proves his love to Belle by giving her the library. I keep threatening Seth that we are going to have a library like that when we have a house someday and he keeps threatening to get me a Kindle!). I love "Mulan," and my Mom always used to say that I looked like "Cinderella." Apparently when I was little, my brother and I used to watch "Sleeping Beauty" over and over and over again until our VHS wore out.
"Life is NOT a Disney movie," the jaded among us might say. Pain happens, bad things happen, the Prince does not come riding in on his horse--rather he sits on the couch eating Doritos.... Somewhere along the way we lost our princess crown and became just a wee bit cynical. And I don't blame anyone. It just happens. Earthly people, earthly princes, earthly situations and circumstances let us down. We stop seeking adventure and we close our hearts and our souls to life and love.
So go ahead...put a little dance in your step today. Sing a little song. Enjoy the wonders of life. Love richly and fully. And remember, girls, there is a heavenly Prince who is perfect and will never let you down.
